Organised by Carlisle Cathedral, Cumbria’s Museum of Military Life, and The Royal British Legion (Carlisle and Stanwix branch), with funding from Cumberland Council, this service of thanksgiving will feature poems, readings, and memories from those who served in the war, read by representatives from the veteran and wider community as well as hymns chosen by local veterans. Royal British Legion Standards for the county of Cumbria will also be received at the High Altar and the sermon will be given by The Revd Ben Phillips RBL Chaplain. Refreshments will be served in the Border Regimental Chapel within the Cathedral following the service. Everyone is very welcome to attend. This service is planned at the end of Armed Forces Week, and at a halfway point between VE Day (8 May) and VJ Day (15 August).
