Vultures are a charismatic group of birds that are often described as ‘nature’s clean-up crew’. They have a specialist diet of carrion – by consuming dead animals vultures help to limit the spread of disease in the environment. With their bald faces and highly corrosive stomach acid, these brilliant birds are built for functionality over beauty. But as you probably already know, despite their usefulness, vultures are villainised in children’s stories and even by the media. This negative image creates a real challenge when trying to conserve vultures – considered by scientists to be the most threatened group of birds in the world! So, we are excited to celebrate International Vulture Awareness Day 2025 and champion these amazing animals! Join us for an exciting day where we promise you will fall in love with vultures. Activities and displays are included with Muncaster Entry Tickets and Muncaster Membership.
