Higham Hall College

Higham Hall has been a beacon for lifelong learning for nearly 50 years. Now an educational trust, we own and operate the building and grounds, including a 200-year old, grade II listed hall and 6 acres of gardens – encompassing mature woodland, meadow and wetland areas which provide important natural habitats for wildlife including endangered red squirrels and our own bees – as a centre for lifelong learning, creativity and culture.

Local Area

Higham is on the northern edge of the Lake District; close to Bassenthwaite Lake and Elva Plain Stone Circle. Built by Thomas Hoskins in a spot where he could overlook his investment in the Keswick to Cockermouth Railway, the Hall has views across to Skiddaw and easy access to excellent walking in the Northern and Western Fells or the beautiful beaches along Cumbria’s West Coast and the Solway Firth.
