The Little Theatre at the Heart of Wigton
The John Peel Theatre is a small gem- a perfect theatre in miniature, with 90 comfortable red velvet seats, a cosy welcoming auditorium and a well stocked bar. We have state of the art lighting and sound systems, a hearing loop, and fully accessible auditorium and toilets. You will be sure of a warm welcome at Cumbria’s friendliest theatre.

The John Peel Theatre is run by Wigton Theatre Club, an entirely volunteer-run organisation dedicated to providing arts, entertainment and community events for North Cumbria. For over seventy years, our volunteers have worked together to create a welcoming and inclusive venue where people can enjoy, participate in and support a wide range of cultural activities. We present a varied programme of live entertainment, including drama, live music, visiting theatre productions and touring concerts. A
Local Area
Parking information Please plan your parking before you arrive at the theatre. Some nearby spaces have strict limits or restrictions. The council car park on the corner of Station Road and King Street is limited to one hour only, 24 hours a day. This applies at all times, including evenings and weekends. The safest and most suitable option is Water Street Car Park. This is a pay and display car park, operating 24 hours a day. It is just a few minutes’ walk from the theatre. Please note that we do not have shared use of the Co-op private car park. Parking there may result in a fine beyond our control. We kindly ask patrons not to park opposite the theatre. These spaces are for local residents only. Thank you for helping us respect our neighbours and avoid parking problems.
